Wada Martha Unekwu
My passion for healthcare began in the world of microbiology. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Jos in Nigeria. Fueled by a desire to gain hands-on experience, I volunteered as a Microbiology Technician at Victory Laboratory in Jos between 2015 and 2017. There, I played a vital role in preparing media for bacterial cultures and sensitivity testing, as well as collecting and preserving samples for examination. This experience proved invaluable, and I later went on to leverage my expertise for four years as the Head of the Microbiology Department at Fedox Laboratory.
However, my calling extended beyond the laboratory walls. Driven by a desire to serve my community directly, I pursued a qualification in Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) at the Caliphate College of Health Sciences in Sokoto State. To bridge the gap between theory and practice, I volunteered at the Primary Health Care Centres in Farofaro and Bafara Estate, Sokoto. These experiences on the front line of community healthcare solidified my passion for service delivery.
Today, I leverage the unique perspective gained from both lab analysis and community outreach in my current role as Head of Drug Administration at Fedox Pharmacy and Stores Limited. Here, I can combine my scientific background with my dedication to public health, ensuring the health and well-being of the community remain at the forefront of our operations.
